This Premium Australian Organic Wholemeal Spelt is an ancient grain is a very popular flour for those who have a low tolerance for gluten. This is not a gluten free flour but does contain a gluten that is more easily digested than wheat. Spelt is a type of wheat, its scientific name is Triticum spelta . Wholemeal & white spelt can be used anytime a recipe calls for all purpose flour. Spelt and wheat have a similar nutritional profile so should be avoided if you are on a gluten free diet. Spelt is nutritious and contains small amounts of vitamins B1,B6 and E as well as small amounts fo calcium and selenium.
